Paperback Book Swap

I find myself utterly addicted to a website I found. Let me premise this by stating that I am an avid reader. I always have a book going. I can't go to sleep at night without reading for at least 5 minutes. I've always been this way..since I was a kid. That being said, I have amassed over the years tons of paperback books. I don't usually buy hardcovers because A, they are expensive and B, they are cumbersome to bring to the beach or on a plane. I love a paperback.

A received an email from my step son in law with an advertisement on it from paperbackswap.com so I followed the link. I read over how it works and signed up. I immediately posted 10 books to swap and ordered 2. I'm not going to go into a lengthy explanation of how it works, you can check it out if it interests you. Since last week I have ordered four books and sent out 4. Very cool.

I just thought I would pass it along to you because I have noticed that many bloggers love to read..so.I thought it might interest you as well.

Like a kid again

I had forgotten how freeing it is to get on a bicycle and just peddle away. I just came back from my 5 mile ride through my neighborhood. I absolutely love riding my bike..I feel like a kid again when I am tooling around. The wind in my hair..the sun shining, the birds singing. Why I tell you it's just wonderful. I even have a Hello Kitty bell and streamers. I'm thinking I definitely need a basket in the front with flowers on it.

My husband "won" this bike at a garage sale. The woman had a contest whoever spent the most at her sale, would win this practically new beach cruiser complete with bell and streamers. He spent $40 at her sale, which is A LOT for a garage sale and hence we are the proud owners of the bike.

It's been sitting in the shed for like a year, but lately I've decided to take her out. Now I am addicted to it. I always rode a bike growing up..it was my main mode of transportation when I was a kid. See, back in the day, our Moms didn't drive us everywhere. All friends and most activities were either a short walk or a bike ride away. We were so free to come and go as we pleased.and we did. Summertime was an invitation to leave the house at 8..come back at 12 for lunch and leave again until 5. Friends homes provided bathroom and koolaid breaks. The streets were safe and the days long and sunny. No cares...can you imagine allowing your kid today to leave your home on foot or bike for 4 hours at a stretch? No cell phone..no idea where they are? What a shame that those halcyon days are gone.

In any case. just some ramblings...TGIF my friends and have a glorious weekend. The weather continues to be awesome here, so I will head to the beach for my weekend respite. Have a good one..

Sad News

SUNRISE - Bruce Springsteen's Friday night concert at BankAtlantic Center has been postponed because of the death of a longtime Springsteen bandmate, a spokesman for concert promoter LiveNation said on Thursday.

News of keyboardist Danny Federici's death was announced on Thursday night at Springsteen's official Web site."Danny Federici, for 40 years the E Street Band's organist and keyboard player, died this afternoon, April 17, 2008 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City after a three-year battle with melanoma," the Web site said.Federici, 58, was not touring while he underwent treatment, but had made a surprise appearance on stage at a March 20 Springsteen concert in Indianapolis.

Friday Fun

I know, I know, you all figured I was off with my biker gang (see yesterdays post) but alas here I am. My husband was none to pleased when they showed up last night, and asked them to BUZZ OFF. My hero! Those guys WERE super hot though.

Its FRIDAY again YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!

As a fun segue into the weekend. I found this addicting paintball game to play. Make sure you're boss is gone 'cuz this one will suck you right in. Ok, it did for me anyway, good thing I am self employed.

Taking A Break

Hi Friends...

I'm sorry to say this will be my last post for a while.
Things have been a bit tough lately and life is getting
shorter and shorter every day, and I want to take time and
smell the roses. So, I am going to quit blogging
and travel full time with a biker gang to see the country
and enjoy life while I still can. Don't worry about me - they

Arts Park

We have an absolutely beautiful ArtsPark in our town. My husband and I often stroll through it after a dinner out. Last night as we were walking we happened to catch the fountain just at dusk as the sun was shining through it. I loved the way the light caught in the water. I tried to capture the essence with my cell phone camera..I'd say not a bad attempt.

There are so many beautiful images that we all see each day and often take for granted. I'm trying to be more aware and take a moment to really "see" and appreciate the world around me.
