leelee, that really, really got me. Bless every single one of them. Makes you realise how small your problems are. I want to hug them and thank them from the bottom of my heart. I just hope they all come home soon...
there are not enough words to say, i am going to borrow this if i might. and continue to pray for all of these wonderful people. may god bless them all!
leelee, probably my only regret about the uso is that it's not as big as it was back in the day... still a great organization, but it's fun to listen to vets from WWII talking about the dances and uso halls here in the states.
one of the best uso lounges is at the DFW airport. it's one of the major hubs for military members going back and forth from the middle east. it's a great place to catch your breath. they've got cell phones and computers for last "good byes" to family members as you're headed back over, good snacks and food and the like...
in iraq they brought us toby keith, numerous comedy acts and rascal flats while i was there to break up the monotony and in afghanistan it was joan jett and they brought outback steakhouse in. they cooked us a great steak dinner.
and then there's all the little things, the books, stamps, stationary and tons of stuff i'm forgetting. thanks so much for supporting them!
You are very welcome!! You KNOW I would have been one of those girls at those dances, serving donuts and joe to the guys. My Dad served in WW11 in the AF I have a very special fondness for the USO. I will keep on donating whether or not we are fighting a war or not.
