Hippiefest
Hubs and I went to Hippiefest last night at the Hard Rock..we had a wonderful fun time. I know, I know I can hear you saying 'HAS BEENS..LEELEE, HAS BEENS" and things like " LeeLee..it's 2007..stop living in the past" But you know..this is the music I love and grew up with...so I will never get over it.
The show was fun..opened with Badfinger (no matter what you are....I will always be around....), then Country Joe McDonald, Felix Cavaliere played Young Rascals songs and a montage of 60's favs, THE ZOMBIES (were so flippin awesome..watch the video), the Flo and Eddie from The Turtles...and the show finished off with Leslie West and Mountain..you can't imagine how HE still rocks..
Ok, OK, I know...these performers are 60+, but they flippin' rock..and I was home by 11...how great is that!!!

No Way!!!!
You got to see Leslie West? Man I am so damned envious. What did they play? What did they plaaaaaaay?
Did Country Joe bring the fish.
Did you all do the Gimme a "F" cheer?
Post more vids! More vids!!
WAY!!!!
Can you say Nantucket Sleighride, Mississippi Queen....he was wailing Scary...he blew everyone away.
No Fish from Joe, but he did play Section 43 which was out of this world..and OF course we did the F cheer..of course. He was the MC and I swear he looked like he was having a great time...in fact we all were...
Wow! I would LOVE to have been able to go to Hippiefest! I'm damned envious, too. I haven't seen Country Joe or Leslie West play since 1970 and never did get to see the Zombies. Now all I can think is "She's Not There." :(
Serena...the Zombies were really good. I saw Mountain many years ago..probably like 1974 in Jersey City..check out this line-up:
Lynard Skynard
Mountain and
Rod Stewart..I can tell you it was quite a mixed crown...lol
ahhhhh the memories
Didn't I say, "I want you home by 10"? You had me worried sick, young lady. Sometimes I don't know why I EVEN bother with the lectures. They seem to go in one ear and out the other. And let me get this straight: one of those noise-makers was called "The ZOMBIES"? What were THEY "hopped up" on?
The funniest part of the evening P..was Flo and Eddie from the Turtles...He calls out to the crowd: All you hippies are still on drugs...everyone cheers...he said...but it's not pot, coke and acid..now it's Lipitor, Avodart and nexium...YOU'RE STILL HIPPIES ON DRUGS..
Lots of heads were nodding in agreement (not me of course..I'm not on any of those..yet) ;-)
That is good. And so true. I wish I could've been there. I love those bands.
The Zombies rock. I just didn't know they still did.
Did you see Steve G's blog with the "My Generation" redux?
Hi Camille Alexa! :-) Yes they sure do...as a matter of fact..I ordered a CD the very next day (they sold out at the concert) of them Live.
The video was super. Brings back a lot of memories. Great that you could be there...wish I was.
Hi Steve..I have to tell you..we really had a fun time, my husband and I..
It's a tour you know..perhaps it's coming to your area..check it out..

Hey... me TOO! Wasn't it Country Joe and The Fish in those days? Ah.... maybe I'm just senile? ~ jb///
It was LZ,,apparently after 3 days he had to ask the fish to leave...haha...
But seriously...Joe was solo and he was doing some mean guitar pickin' I'm glad I saw him..
Thanks for stopping by!
