Kitchen Concerts- Donovan & The Allman Bros Band

I have another blog Kitchen Concerts...perhaps you have visited it at some point. I haven't posted there in quite some time and I thought I would incorporate that blog with this blog. So that being said, I will occasionally post a Kitchen Concert here. Songs that I love, from albums that I treasure or have yet to own. I'll share a brief thought and the tune.

Yesterday on XM Deep Tracks - my absolute favorite radio station - played 2 songs back to back. Mountain Jam off Eat A Peach by the Allman Brothers Band followed by the studio version of The Grateful Dead's Scarlet Begonias from Mars Hotel. Two of my most favorite albums of all time.

I emailed my friend Vinny from The Big Leather Couch because I know what an aficionado he is of music (as are most you you dear readers, one of the reasons I love you all). We got to corresponding about Mountain Jam. I mentioned my love for the song and how it was derived or should I say inspired by Donovan's There is a Mountain. To my utmost surprise, Vinny said he did not know that..so I thought I would share MY tutelage as it were with Vinny and y'all.

So here is...Donovan's There Is A Mountain followed by Mountain Jam.

My day yesterday was very tough. I got home and Nancy was there waiting...(that was very cool) and she had poured me a Gentleman Jack..I told her I needed to clear my head and after our conversation yesterday I started Mountain Jam...

I have rarely let anyone see me when i listen to this...my eyes stay closed...and as I told you the tears will flow as I listen to the great Duane make the guitar sing..

When it was over she looked and said.."Now that is some emotion...thank you for letting me see that"

I have been Tutelaged by you ...THANKS

Wow....that's some story. I'm happy I had some tunes to inspire and help you find release yesterday. What would we ever do without the support of those we care about (Nancy is T-RIFFIC!!) and our music..

Honestly Vinny, I just don't know..

HUGS my friend!

That's some great music there.

I'm not a huge music aficionado, but I love listening to people talk about their favorite music and how it moves them.

Vinny, to each his or her own, I always say..

Not a huge fan of any of them ... but do listen to all of them on occasion just for variety. I was always more of a rocker (than a jammer) in my youth.

Hey Pug...rocker? Jammer? as long as the music moves you...that's all that matters..

I like you just the way you are....

HUGS 4 PUGS!

I'm confused. Is this blog going there or is that blog coming here? I know I should pay more attention.

Leelee tis is a great idea!
You must know by now that we have very similar tastes in music.
Now I might have chosen a differnt Dead album I do believe that Duane's peach is just about as good as it gets...Maybe Fillmore, live.

Bond- Man, have I got to visit you!
Anyone who knows enough to drink with a gentelman, watch the Metropolitans and get rid of someone who believes what I'm listening to right now is "scratchy" has got to be one rightous well put together individual!!!

My Mistake, Bond.

I misunderstood your reference to Shea Stadium in a previous post.
