Conservative DUH! Moment?

Bush faces backlash on the right
Conservative anger grows over president's foreign policy
By Michael Abramowitz

At a moment when his conservative coalition is already under strain over domestic policy, President Bush is facing a new and swiftly building backlash on the right over his handling of foreign affairs.
Conservative intellectuals and commentators who once lauded Bush for what they saw as a willingness to aggressively confront threats and advance U.S. interests said in interviews that they perceive timidity and confusion about long-standing problems including Iran and North Korea, as well as urgent new ones such as the latest crisis between Israel and Hezbollah.

At the risk of sounding immature...HELLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO????????!!!!!!

NOW? they're upset? Oh give me a break...it's election time and they FINALLY have to admit that this President is a dunderhead and want to distance themselves as far away from him as possible. Oh they certainly lauded him in the fall of 2004. Unfortunately 48% of this country saw what he was for real and it just wasn't enough to keep this group at bay. Well Now we're in a pickle all right.

If you're a republican..I can understand your wanting your party back..back to it's roots of fiscal responsibility and smaller government etc. But really WHERE were you when this country really NEEDED you, you all bought their values lines and their swift boat ads, I thought you were smarter than that.....cry me a river folks. I'm mad as hell at you all for allowing this guy to be in charge today.

Ok, needed to rant...I feel better now.

OMG!! I've been cussing and swearing at the redneck hillbillies who reelected Bush but no one seems to listen. His loyal supporters will not admit he has done wrong no matter how much evidence they are shown. It makes me wonder just how stupid they really are.

A2B, I've wondered myself how seeming intelligent people could have been backing this guy all along. I understand how gullible many of the American people are..they never took the time to really.. I mean REALLY think about what they were doing. The accepeted the pablum Rove and C. served up. ARGH!!!

P- I registered as a Democrat in 1976 when I was a Senior in HS, mostly because my parents were Democratic and I grew up listening to their viewpoint (which I still agree with and am thankful every day that they were dems)I have never missed voting in a presidential or gubenatorial election and for about the last 20 years, I take the time out of my seemingly busy life and vote in EVERY election offered, no matter how small or what month it falls. I consider it a priviledge and an honor to vote. I READ ballots and since the internet has came into my life I actually DO my homeowrk on issues and candidates, that being said I do think that voting for "the best candidate" is truly the best way intellectually to vote. If Reagan were running again, I know I would certainly consider him, I have become a fan of his.

I am sooooooooo tired of the partisan split in this country, not to mention to continuous ineptness of this administration ON EVERY LEVEL ON EVERY ISSUE!! My god can they do ANYTHING right? Apparently not.

Well finally their own party has to FINALLY see this group for what they are. It's only ever been about the oil and making the rich people richer, and now all the soccer moms, and church going regular folk can see and apparently feel they were duped, sold a bill of goods and taken to lunch. How trivial Mr Clintons "sexcapades" look now ( I felt that whole thing was trivial then too). He shouldn't have lied about them, but honestly, he should never have been asked.

What this gang has done has put the whole world into a tailspin.

I can't wait for 2008 (oooh new bumpersticker..good one leelee)....ok you can see by the length of this reply how political I am, I can go on and on, believe me, I have friends who simply WILL NOT talk to me about this stuff.
ok I'm done...for now.

PS: I'm glad you understand my point of view and seemingly concur.

That was me earlier (the deleted comment). I am now better rested and in better shape to comment.

I agree with you ladies, and then some. These are some dark times for our country, and I do think that down the road, historians will not look favorably at W.

This is not about Republicans versus Democrats, nor is it about Conservatives vs. Liberals.

In fact, I have voted for Republicans more often than for Democrats. And my leanings in the majority of matters are Conservative. So this is not a case of "us vs. them".

He has done a piss-poor job and it will take years - if not over a decade to recover from the damage.
Some families have losses that can never be recouped.

The man has proven himself inept in the way he responds in a crisis, and frankly I do not believe that he has the sharp mind and communication skills that are required for the job.

Sure, people are FINALLY starting to wake up, but it's way too late. We had an opportunity to get rid off him in '06, and we blew it.

I could go on and on, but I won't ... for now.

Leelee,

I was a Reagan fan (voted for him both times). I was (and am) a Clinton fan. Clinton was a wonderful president. I could care less about his sexcapades (that's between him and Hillary).

Bush has skeletons in his closet too. It's irrelevant. Carter was a moral - but HIGHLY ineffective - president.

This is WHY we need to have separation of church and state, so that religious agendas do NOT take precedence over what's good for the country.
