Movie Date Night

Sure we watch tons of movies at home, thanks to Netflix, but occasionally I want to see something on the big screen. Late night R and I went to see Little Miss Sunshine and honestly I don't remember the last time I laughed hard enough in a movie to bring tears to my eyes. I was not alone, the whole theater was cracking up. What a fun film. The whole theater was smiling as we exited.

The story is about a family who is going through a rough patch, financially and emotionally. They come together to give their 7 year daughter Olive (I love that name) a chance to compete in a beauty contest. Having no extra cash they decide to drive an old VW mini-bus from Albuquerque to Southern California. Needless to say, hi-jinx insues.

I loved the whole cast...Steve Carell (we love him in The Office), Greg Kinear (who I recently saw in a great movie The Matador), Toni Collette (never heard of her), Alan Arkin (an old time pro..sooooooooo funny), Paul Dano as the teenage son (has a very poignant moment, which any parent of a teen can relate to) and Abigail Breslin who plays Olive. This child was really, really great, adorable without that over the top Dakota Fanning syrup.

Anyway...the movie is hysterical..go see it!!

As long as her middle name wasn't "Oyl", I have absolutely no problem with it.
