My blog...my own little corner of the universe.

I don't share my blog with my family or even my friends..it's like I have my own little space to just be leelee, warts and all. I mean, it's not a secret blog...I talk about it and even show my husband and daughter bits and pieces or regale stories..but they don't (to my knowledge) go and read it on their own. I've never sent the address to old friends or family members.

It's not that I don't want them to..it's more about a place where I can just be leelee..not wife, not Mom, not even "best friend".

I'm wondering...do you share your blog with friends and family? If you do, does it prevent you from writing what you truly want? Would you have to have a "different persona" if you knew your family was reading it? Can you just be you?

Just wondering.

My friends and family now about it, some read it.
At times I wish they didn't, because it could be them I want to blow off about. Since I'm not so mobile at the moment though, its a good way to let them know whats happening in Queenie land. Only one of my friends leaves comments, her and my son have been known to play the odd prank. Maybe one day I will start a second blog, that no one knows about!!!!!

I'm like you, a few people read my blog when I show it to them but my mom and sisters and such? No way. It's not even that I don't want them to read what I write; it's more a desire to not hear things like "why didn't you say this or that or why don't you write about me?" But does the thought of people in my real life reading change what I write? No. The only sensorship I use is, will what I write be unnecessarily mean or hurtful, because I wouldn't do that anywhere.

I don't give it up to family and some "real world" friends. I think to do so would stifle my freedom of expression -- especially since they're sometimes the topics of the day.

Yes ladies, you seem to think as I do...not secret, just a little corner that's only mine, to vent if need be, to share with my blogger buddies, etc.

No time for a secret blog..I am what I am I'm honest about it..and perhaps even too forthcoming at times..no reason to hide.

HUGS to you and thank you for your comments..ya know, I treasure you, my blogging pals...I really do!

Leelee-
My blog has taken on a life of it's own- and when hubby spilled the beans about it at his work his co workers started reading it...so, there are somethings I can not be "me" about- without it being brought up at the dinner table (or worse, at lunch when I meet T and his friends.)

Glad to be one of your friends, in the blog world though. :)

LBB I read your blogvey and the response...it seems that most of us feel the same way about our blogs...I find that interesting..thanks for your reply my friend! BTW..Love your pics of your journey...glad you got there safely!! HUGS!!

MV...girlfriend!!! I'm glad you are a friend in the blog world too. I'm still planning a visit to NC in June. Our kids are closing on a home in Zebulon at the end of the month. Maybe we can say HEY!!

my blog's weird. a couple real world friends know about it, and i hope they keep it to themselves. there are times when i wish i could point friends, coworkers and family to it, because i don't want to explain stuff over and over. but for the most part i'm glad they don't read it. if they did, i couldn't vent and rant and rave. it's not that it's a secret. but i need that place to not censor myself. but on the flipside, there's lots of stuff i want to put on the blog, but don't because i don't think it's fair to the people i'd be writing about...

Sean...yep..I don't put EVERYTHING on my blog either..some stuff I just have to keep to myself...but as I said in an earlier reply:

not secret, just a little corner that's only mine, to vent if need be,

Seems like we all have a similar experience.

Thanks for coming by..I always appreciate your views and comments!

Plus it's always nice to see your smiling face :-)

Zebulon! I know where that is. Best of luck to the kids with their new home.

Is it far from you? They live in Henderson right now..not far from Zebulon OR the VA border...I think they may be sort of close to you!!

I've told everyone about my blog but of late I have some regrets. And yes, I am thinking about starting another blog that is not going to be very nice at all AND I'm not telling anyone.

leelee said...

Corn....I would imagine that having friends and family could be kind of stifling. Not that you want or need to write anything dispariging.

I just hope that if you ever do start another blog, you'll let me know...I promise not to tell! ;-)

I'm about 3 hours northwest of Zebulon. Not quite 3. I've made it to Durham in significantly less than 3. Shoot, you'll practically be within hollering distance when you're there.

In that case..We might have to work something out!!

My friends and family know I blog but to the best of my knowledge they have never read what I have written. I like it that way. It lets me be me. Usually when they see me blogging, I am reading another post. Thanks for your insight.

Hi leelee.
having a blog was a real boon for me. It was my place to get all the crazy thoughts out of my head and a chance to tell people all the stories of what life can be like when you move from the most exciting city in the world, to one of the quietest. I had a great time untill my family discovered the blog.
The resulting rancor has kept me away from posting very much and when I do I feel like someone is looking over my shoulder, so I kind of censor what I write and that doesn't make me feel comfortable.

Treat you blog as you would your diary, show people snippets of what they can read, but don't let them know where you keep the book.

Greg...I agree, it's a good outlet for us to be oursleves.

Serena...:-)

NYD..hello friend..perhaps it's time for a new blog for you that family doesn't know about...but you would HAVE to share it with us!!

i share my blog with only a few close friends, no family and i have to be cautious what i write about whom. i'm too paranoid otherwise ;)
