thats a nice picture. did you ever think that you would be in such a position as we are, to be orphaned, (in a sense), and in charge, (as much as that is possible)?

Wow ER....I have to say, that is exactlly what I was thinking on my drive home tonight..orphaned and in charge. Just thinking like that almost had me panicking..and I've been in this position for quite a long time. I'm an "orphan" since 91. I wonder why it hit me now?..I don't know..

That's a great picture, Leelee. I can see a resemblance between you and your mother. She and your Dad look like a well matched couple. I'm so sorry to hear you're orphaned. It hasn't happened to me yet, but I know it's coming. I'm sure I'll panic, too. I think it's a natural reaction when they've always been there and you've always been the child and, suddenly, everything changes.

Serena, I have been told my whole life how I resemble my Mom...and now as I get older..I really see HER in my mirror...lol how the heck did THAT happen.

Not being maudlin...just missed them...it just came over me today...they are with me always even though not physically.

Thanks for your comments!! :-)

What a gorgeous and evocative photo. It seems like a very good way to remember people you love--so dynamic.

They look very European, especially your mother.

p.s. that was me deleting the comment--I accidentally hit the post button twice (I hate that!) and my ocd wouldn't let me leave it up repeated.

Think I'll go wash my hands now.

And count the stairs both up and down on the way there. Twice.

LBB...you made me smile this morning..I think we all suffer from a touch of OCD. Thanks for your kind words concerning my parents picture. I like that photo alot because it really typifies who they were. A young.."happening", dynamic and intelligent couple living in NYC in the 1950's. I'm imagining them on the Staten Island Ferry there..or at least viewing the river. I love black and white photos.

:-)

Me often stands in front of the mirror in the morning, getting dressed and at the point that me be wearing only socks and a button down shirt, workin on a necktie, me dad looks back at me and laughs....

That look like either the J shore or Coney island.
Darn me misses those quarter viewers..

That's funny Scary...I know what you mean..

I'm fairly certain it's not teh shore..they only went ther ein teh summer. They lived down in the W 28th street area, so they weren't far from battery park. They used to joke because many of the photos of my Mom had the quarter viewers in them as well..they thought it was her "other man".

Seems like only yesterday and a million years ago at the same time.
